Financial Controller

The Financial Controller is responsible for direct supervision of all day to day accounting and financial activities of a complete entity. The Financial Controller effectively manages the accounting books to support the European finance organization and to secure visibility of P&L and balance sheet structure.
The success is dependent on the ability to work effectively and collaboratively across the company with all functions, and to put the needs of the company and the internal customers first.

By combining the Philips brand promise with TPV’s manufacturing expertise in displays and own brand AOC, Company uses a fast and focused approach to bringing innovative products to market. Through its network of local sales teams, Company works with all major IT distributors and resellers. The company’s design and development center is located in Taiwan.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• End to end responsibility for financial accounting, reporting and cost accounting of an entity set of books
• Build a strong relationship with our SSC in Poland where the main P2P, and general accounting activities take place
• Lead and improve the month end close process including balance sheet reviews and perform spot checks across the accounts driving improvements in controls and general balance sheet hygiene for your entity
• Perform analytical reviews of the P&L and Balance Sheet to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the monthly operating result and reporting
• Prepare and arrange journal entries to post period activity such as payroll and Inventory
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
• Preparation and review of period end financial statements
• Interact with the internal customers and other functional managers. Act as their business partner; understanding their needs and requirements and prioritize accordingly
• Utilize the understanding of the end to end processes and the local books in order to maintain strong internal controls
• Support internal and external audit work
• Support with the preparation of all regulatory reporting, including VAT and annual statutory accounts
• Ensure compliance with local and corporate policies and guidelines
• Assist with other ad hoc projects

• Work on complex problems where analysis and/or situations require in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercise judgement within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and evaluation of criteria for obtaining resolutions
• Regularly provides information, assistance, and recommendations, which are used in the management decision-making processes. Erroneous decisions have serious impact on sales revenue and may jeopardise overall success of the business
• Anticipate future events and situations that are likely to affect the business model and direction
• Be able to analyse certain situations and make decisions following broadly defined practices and policies

Supervision
• The individual has a natural bias for action and is willing to make a positive difference to achieve higher levels of performance
• Take direct ownership of all accounting operations with high levels of self-assurance in achieving the goals
• Ownership and analysis of the P&L and Balance Sheet bringing the impact of the outcome throughout the whole organization across various functions and departments
• Internal audits, and tax related items

Management chain:
• The financial controller reports directly into financial controller lead

Education and related experience
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in similar roles in a multinational consumer product industry
• 5+ years accounting experience inclusive of solid general ledger and reporting work
• A master level degree, preferable accountancy & control
• Working knowledge of SAP Finance software program
• Working knowledge of Excel to advanced level
• International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) knowledge and experience strongly preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Fluent in English (verbal and written)
