Verdict: “The Phillips 558M1RY is a fantastic device with bombastic sound and razor sharp images. With its 55 inch screen diagonal, however, the end user may be faced with a real problem if he is thinking about making a new purchase. Anyone who has done without classic cable or satellite TV and only streams, can easily do without a TV set. Since the display is connected to the PC or a console anyway, no app store is necessary. The monitor receives all images from the connected hardware. But there is more than just the image quality. The soundbar alone is worth its money. Bowers & Wilkins has outdone itself in this development. With lots of presets and the ability to adjust all settings to suit your listening habits, the soundbar is also completely convincing. The only point of criticism – and I’ve been looking for a long time – is the somewhat difficult access to the connections. They are slightly recessed into the monitor at the bottom edge, which makes it difficult to connect the devices. I guess this is called “whining on a high level”?”
